We’ve had a great first week back from vacation! The students came back excited and happy to talk about what they had done while we were all away from school, while at the same time diving right into the new plans and activities for May.

This month we have two big events coming. One is our End of the year Show. We will be putting on a performance of The Three Little Pigs. Throughout the month we will be learning about what a play is. We will explore key play-vocabulary such as characters, setting, conflict, and resolution. We will also work on building our set and designing our costumes. It will be a big, and very exciting undertaking for our class. This week we have already begun talking about our characters, and we have decided which kinds of pigs each child wants to play.

Our other exciting event is graduation. Please keep your eye on our blog and other forms of communication as we approach the end of the month as this will be the best way for us to communicate all graduation planning information. As of now our play and graduation are TENTATIVELY planned for Wednesday, May 26th at 5pm. We are holding our show outside and we need to watch the weather and hope that it cooperates with us. We must also plan according to COVID safety protocols and must limit our audiences to ONLY 2 adults and the siblings from each student’s family.

May is a big review month so you will be seeing and hearing a great deal about numbers 1-5 this week along with some excitement (and maybe some complaints) as we continue to work on beginning our names with a capital letter, and then following that with lower case letter. Our letter sounds also continue to be a big part of each day, so keep an eye out for some of our inventive spelling on student pictures, as well as hearing many letter sound songs.

Have a wonderful weekend celebrating as mothers and with your mothers (be sure to check backpacks for the gifts that the children finished making on Wednesday).
