Literacy: We read the books “Dot the Fire Dog” by Lisa Desimini , “Fast Food” by Saxton Freymann and “On the Move” DK Readers. Our letter of the week was the letter H. The children practiced forming the letter H and wrote their letter H page.
Fine motor: To go along with our transportation unit the children stamped their names on license plates. For a fall project the children ripped construction paper to make fall leaves and glued them on a paper rake.
Sensory Table: This week the sensory table contained beans and small construction vehicles.
Science We did an experiment for transportation. We made a car out of Legos and I asked the children how it might move without touching it. I then took out a balloon and straws and asked the same question. We figured out that we could blow up the balloon and use it to make the car move.
Math: We worked on sorting skills by sorting types of transportation by characteristics. We sorted by the number of wheels and if the mode of transportation would be found on land, in the water or in the air. The children played a transportation memory match game. We graphed our favorite way to travel.
Art: Letter H art page for their alphabet book.
Dramatic Play: Dramatic play is set up with community helper dress up clothes.
Gross Motor: We played Simon says and continue to enjoy playing outside in the beautiful weather.
Field Trip: Our next field trip will be on Wednesday, October 11 to Quarrybrook science center. Please drop off your child at 9:00 and pick them up at 11:00.
Reminder: We have no school on Friday, October 6, due to a teacher workshop day. There is no school on Monday, October 9, due to Columbus Day.
Have a great long weekend!
