Literacy: This week we read the books “I See Spring” by Charles Ghigna and “Spish,Splash, Spring” by Jan Carr. We worked on the letter W this week. We came up with a list of W words and practiced forming the letter W. The children created a journal page about our field trip on Wednesday. We continue to review all letters.
Fine Motor: The children worked on their pincer grip and gluing while creating a spring flower using tissue paper. They worked on their tracing and cutting while creating a rain umbrella.
Sensory Table: The sensory table contained alphabet letters and rice.
Science: We discussed spring weather changes. We talked about what the animals and plants do. The children made shaving cream rain clouds.
Math: We introduced a new game (mouse house) to work on number recognition to 20.We played a game (flower towers) to work on number recognition, counting and 1 to 1 correspondence.
Art: The children used water colors to create their letter W art page.
Dramatic Play: This month we have a pet/vet center set up in dramatic play.
Thank you to all our chaperones for our field trip on Wednesday. The weather wasn’t great but we lucked out avoiding the heavy rain. The children and the adults all learned a few new things.
Have a great weekend!
