November has just begun and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. We have had an amazingly warm fall so far, but as the cold weather begins, please send your child with appropriate outdoor wear. We will be going outside every day, weather permitting.
A Huge Thank You:
Thank you to Carissa Sikora and to the parents that helped with setting up and cleaning after Halloween Bingo. They all helped to make the event a great success. We enjoyed pizza, goodies, visiting with our friends, and of course picture bingo. A huge thank you to Yankee Pest Control for donating the pizza for the night!
Brain Building for your child:
New science tells us that our children’s first 5 years are when they develop the foundation for all future learning. There is a great app that can turn shared moments into brain building moments with your child. You can download the “DailyVroom” app, it is free, from the App Store or Google play. This will give you daily ideas to do with your child. You also can check out the website http://www.joinvroom.org/
We are having our annual Giving Box Drive for the Shepherd’s Pantry in Windham. Donations will be accepted until Friday, Nov 17. All items collected will be delivered on Monday, Nov 20, before Thanksgiving. We are looking for a family to deliver these, which is a great experience for your child. We would love a photo of you and your child delivering the box for the Windham paper. Let us know, if this is something you are interested in.
We are finishing up with our annual coat drive on November 3. If you have any coats to donate, please bring them in. Thank you in advance for all of your support.
November Days Off:
We have a number of days off in November. No school Veteran’s Day, Nov 10 and Thanksgiving break is Nov. 22, 23 and 24.
Toys From Home:
Just a friendly reminder that our school rule is to keep toys at home. The teachers are not responsible for the loss of personal items and they often cause a distraction in the classroom.
November Activities to do with your child:
Nature Walk – Bring a paper bag and go on a nature walk with your child. Have them describe what they find and put in their bag. Talk about what senses they are using during the nature walk. After the walk, have your child sort the items by color, size, or shape. Great math skills!
Sensory Bins– All children love our sensory tables at school, so why not create one at home? Get a small plastic storage bin and fill it with dried pasta, corn kernels, beans, or items from nature. Put in measuring cups, spoons, and other containers for them to fill and dump.
Turkey Sandwich – You will need: bread, apples, raisins or craisins, and cheese. Cut a circle from the bread. Cut the apple up into slices. Cut a small triangle and turkey feet from the cheese. Have your child construct the turkey by putting the apples around the top of the bread circle, adding the raisin eyes, cheese beak, and cheese feet. Enjoy!
Shout Out Board:
Please give a shout out to a Co-op staff member or a parent who has gone above and beyond. We love to recognize what people do for our community. Thank you!
REMINDER: Please label all of your children’s items, especially winter attire, that they bring to school. Things get left behind and it is helpful if they are labeled. Thank You!!!
