November has just begun and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. As the cold weather begins, please send your child with appropriate outdoor wear. We will be going outside every day, weather permitting.
A Huge Thank You:
Thanks Carissa Sikora and the parents that helped with set up and clean up. They all helped to make Halloween Bingo such a great success. We had over 100 families there and all enjoyed the fun filled family event. We enjoyed pizza, goodies, visiting with our friends, and of course picture bingo.
Brain Building for your child:
New science tells us that our children’s first 5 years are when they develop the foundation for all future learning. There is a great app that can turn shared moments into brain building moments with your child. You can download the DailyVroom, it is free, from the App Store or Google play. This will give you daily ideas to do with your child. You also can check out the website http://www.joinvroom.org/
We are having our annual giving box drive for the Shepherd’s pantry in Windham. Donations will be accepted until Friday, Nov 18. All items collected will be delivered on Monday, Nov 21, before Thanksgiving. We are looking for a family to deliver these, which is a great experience for your child. We would love a photo of you and your child delivering the box for the Windham paper. Let us know, if this something you are interested in.
We are finishing up with our 2nd coat drive on November 4. If you have any coats to donate, please bring them in. Thank you for all of your support for this.
November Days Off:
We have a number of days off in November that I want you to be aware of. Teacher’s Workshop Day, Nov 8, Veteran’s Day, Nov 11 and our Thanksgiving break is Nov. 23, 24 and Nov 25.
Toys From Home:
Just a friendly reminder that our school rule is to keep toys at home. The teachers are not responsible for the loss of them and sometimes
November Activities to do with your child:
Nature Walk – Bring a paper bag and go on a nature walk with your child. Have them describe what they find and put in their bag. Talk about what senses they are using during the nature walk. After the walk, have your child sort the items by color, size, or shape. Great math skills!
Sensory Bins– All children love our sensory tables at school, so why not create one at home. Get a small plastic storage bin and fill it dried pasta, corn kernels, beans, or items from nature. Put in measuring cups, spoons, and other containers for them to fill and dump.
Turkey Sandwich – You will need: bread, apples, raisins or craisins, and cheese. Cut a circle from the bread. Cut the apple up into slices. Cut a small triangle and turkey feet from the cheese. Have your child construct the turkey by putting the apples around the top of the bread circle, adding the raisin eyes, cheese beak, and cheese feet. Enjoy!
Great Educational Website – www.pbskids.org
This is a website that has games and videos for your child to learn and enjoy, with their favorite PBS shows.
Shout Out Board:
Please give a shout out to the Co-op staff or parent that has done an amazing job on something. We love to recognize what people do for this community. Thank you!
Our October winner was Charlie Costa. He estimated 19 and there were 19 colored jewels in the container. Super guess! Come into the office and put a guess into our November’s estimation Snoopy house.
REMINDER: Please label all of your children’s items that they bring to school. Things get left behind and it is helpful if they are labeled. Thank You!!!
