Sunshine in October. We have enjoyed the outside play.
The children chose new letter spots. We talked about Fire fighters and Police Officers as community helpers.
Literacy-We introduced the letter H, it’s sound and brainstormed words for the letter H. Mrs. Hankus, Hayden, and Harper the Dog made the H board. We practiced our H with play dough, dry erase boards and tracing the letter with crayons. We played a leaf ABC matching game where the children matched the letter on the leaves to the letter on their card. We introduced a new sight word and rhyming words for the sight word.
Math-The children used shapes to build a fire truck. We sorted leaves by color. Some made patterns on their own and counted the different colors. We started a new calendar with a new pattern. We continue high five count where the children do the attendance by tapping the lollipop drum one by one while counting the children in the class for the day.
Fine Motor-The children created a stop light by gluing and sprinkling glitter to match the colors on the stop light. The children enjoyed stamping letters on leaves. We also stamped our names on a license plate.
Art-Leaf rubbing, stickers, and scissors were at the art center. The children enjoyed making creations at the art center. We worked on our Letter H ABC Book.
Sensory Table-The children had fun with the construction vehicles scooping up the rice and jewels.
Dramatic Play-So much fun was had dressing up in fun costumes, fancy tutus and sparkly dresses. They dressed in construction vests and hats, goggles and glitter, pirates and princesses.
Thank you for the extra snacks for non coop days, play dough, contact paper and stickers. We appreciated it very much!
Thank you for bringing in the acorns too. We have a quite a collection.
No School on Monday, October 9
Field trip on Wednesday, October 11
For those of you who have little ones 18-36 months, think about visiting Mrs. Hankus during Toddler Tale Time. It will be in our room from 9-10 am starting Nov 2nd and 16th. The children can come in and explore the classroom through table tops, the sensory table, dramatic play, music and movement, a story, and a themed art activity. It’s a nice way to introduce your child to a school setting while you can stay and enjoy the experience with them.
Have a great long weekend. Enjoy the sunshine.
Looking forward to a fabulous field trip.
